Constellation Observer 2.0

The Story

This project serves as a heartfelt tribute to an innovative creation by Fernando Correia, my father. In the early 1990s, he meticulously designed and constructed a unique "star-gazing chair." This device incorporated a comfortable car seat affixed to a motorized metallic structure, complete with an integrated stand for binoculars. This allowed an observer to effortlessly navigate and explore the night sky via a remote control unit. To disseminate his passion and the principles of celestial observation to a broader audience, particularly in educational settings, he presented this invention in public schools. Recognizing the limitations of daytime observation, he ingeniously integrated an early form of virtual reality goggles, connected to a computer, which enabled students to experience the wonders of the constellations indoors through a simulated program.
